Just wanted to put this out there for everyone, I have my dogs microchipped and use two services for registry, as well having ID tags on their harness' D ring but I never knew about this site until it was sent to me on Facebook.
You can get the Amber Alerts on their site, on your cell phone, Facebook, Twitter and a couple other random ways that seem super informative for getting the word out...missing fliers posted on mail boxes and street corners are still a great way to get you lil one home, but technology really spreads the word...instantly.
Ask you vet, local humane society, SPCA, and animal control agency if they are using the site too: mine do but many aren't aware!
