Don't feel horrible! I have had two pups with torn ligaments this past year. They both were operated on and are doing very well now.
It is important to take care of this or they get very bad arthritis.
Yorkies are prone to luxating patella and also torn cruciate ligaments. This is not your fault!
I would suggest that you take your pup to a board certified surgeon.
