Bonnie, are you thinking for the furries? If yes, paper might be tough. I was going to say a sheet, but those do wrinkle easily. What about a jersey sheet...I wonder if those wrinkle as easy?

The felt is thick so it doesn't wrinkle. After we use it we just roll or fold it up out of the way. the only negative is that its kinda bulky folded up.
