Well, she is still a puppy. I hardly ever actually see overweight puppies but it's definitely important to not over-feed to avoid future weight problems, but you don't want to under-feed either. You are supposed to be able to feel their ribs easily when you rub along them... and a nice 'tuck' should be seen (sometimes, if they have a lot of hair, you can't. But when they are all wet from a bath you can see their figure better).

Jackson is 2yrs old and a healthy 16lbs. He eats 1/2 cup per day of Orijen kibble (1/4 cup in the AM and 1/4 cup in the PM). Both times a little more than a teaspoon of wet food is added. He also gets some treats throughout the day and a bully stick every day. A puppy will need more food than an adult dog though since they are still growing. Jackson was 6lbs at 12 weeks, then went to 8.6lbs by 17 weeks old, and was 12lbs by 6 months old. He's now 16lbs. He gained 4lbs after he turned 1 year old, I think mostly in muscle. I've never seen a 5 month old stay the same weight... so expect her to grow some more. 6-7lbs is still a very small dog.
