I have seen pictures of your Max, he is a good size beautiful boy. My Bella is 9.6 lbs...and the 44x24 is small for her buts its just right for my Harley he is 5 mos 3.10 lbs...Now the 57x36 is big, its big enough for a large dog...so that should give you some ideal of the size you would need for you baby

I would go large!!
