I am happy to hear that you have decided to get a new puppy. I am sorry I can't help you with the hernia question, but wanted to say good luck with the new baby. It may be a good idea to wait to pick the puppy up until after the holidays, though, so your home will be a bit more quiet and calm for the little one's first days.

I have to question, though, with all the breeders in NC, why would you purchase a puppy that you know has health issues? But if you have your heart set on this one, best of luck to you and I hope someone can answer your question.
