I think the abillity of the pup to juump or climb over the x pen at the breeders depends on their age and the height of the x pen, they become more inquinsitive and coordinated as they grow.

When I got my first tiny dog (2.30 llbs at 5 mos. it took her less than 3 minutes to get herrself up and over a 12 " x pen when I first got her.
I know have a 42 inch ex pen she cannot get out of it when we are all outside on a nice sunny day.

PS If you put an old shower curtain underneath your x pen this will protect your wood floors and you can pt a pee pad on the shower currtain too.
