If Apple needs the probio for a 'therapy' and not as a snack, then I'd go w/ a supplement for sure. The concentration of probio in yogurt isn't much, and yogurt only contains 1 or 2 species at the most. Whereas, if you get one formulated for dogs - a good supp will include the species specific to a dog's GI.

Keep in mind...the stomach of a dog is extremely acidic...and there is a lot of thought out there that many probios die after hitting the stomach (never making it to the small intestine, where they're needed). Some probios try to use some sort of a 'delivery system' to try and protect the probios so that they are able to reach the sm intestine.
