Need ideas-Gilmore scooting all over I'm hoping maybe someone has a idea of what might be wrong with Gilmore. It started this week when he didn't do his regular poop first thing in the morning. He goes all the time- in rain, in sleet, in a blizzard, after his surgery-nothing has hindered his pooping ability. He is pretty much a 3-4 times a day pooper. He went all day without going which is so not like him and then started scooting. I brought him to the vet and she expressed his anal glands and said there was a little blood. She put him on antiobiotic and I thought he would be good to go. She also shaved his bottom on the chance that his long hair was getting in the way since he hasn't been groomed since his knee surgery.
He is still not pooping on his normal schedule. He is only going once a day. I have given him pumpkin and some apple and carrots for fiber. He is scooting all over-constantly. He keeps trying to lick at something back there. He is obviously bothered by something. I will bring in a stool sample tomorrow to the vets but I really don't think it could be worms. He has not had any freedom outside for 3 months. He is taken out to potty on a leash and immediately brought back inside. He is eating, drinking and playing.
The only thing that has changed is he is now allowed some freedom in the house as it has been 11 weeks since his surgery. I have looked to see if maybe he pooped somewhere else in the house but he hasn't.
He keeps turning around to his back end and going to lick over there but it looks to me like his is licking by his pee pee and not his butt. He is very bothered by something over there.
Would you call the vet or just bring him back in tomorrow? I'm so frustrated. Just want Gilmore to feel good. |
