I have three dogs and live in a zero lot neighborhood. I have seen my neighbors let their dogs out and poop in my yard. That makes me mad, of course when someone was moving a new piece of furniture in they stepped in it and now it is on my carpet!!
We also have neighbors who never have their dogs on leash, German Sheppard. I just don't understand why anyone thinks it is ok to let their pet poop on their yard.
I did finally have words with a lady who walked her dog and he dug up part of my flower bed as she watched. Kind of the same idea.
Now I know that is not what you did, you sound nice and responsible. But some of the other comments sounded a little vindictive. That would not help make peace in the neighborhood!! I say when possible "kill them with kindness" -- maybe one day you will be able to speak to him, who knows.
I have been in your shoes with my pups (yes, with poop bag in hand) and I did get upset.. but held my mouth. Latter became a little more friendly with the neighbor.
