A Wahl Peanut trimmer is a great tool. They are available at some Sally beauty supply stores and on Amazon for about the same price as a decent mustache trimmer.

Thanks for info on a trimmer I've been looking for one the past week, just to trim ears & was so overwhelmed with choices, I couldn't make a decision.
