She'll definitely use it once the puppies are born. Mine was so attached to me, her crate is right next to my bed. Prefers to never leave my side. After the pups were born, she "moved out" - right to her whelping box inside a very large cage/crate - granted in the corner of the bedroom, but she "left" me for the care of her pups (to which I was very thankful) - she moved back in around 6 weeks post whelp! lol
Though we tried to introduce it to her while she was pg, she had no interest, maybe it helped when she went into labor we put her in the whelping box and that's where she had the pups.
I did have concerns that she was so attached to me/humans and being her first litter she might not care for her pups properly...as it turned out she was a perfect mama, did everything like a very experienced mama and the first 4 weeks all she cared about was being with her pups...forget me! I was so grateful.
