The old neighbors in my last subdivision were so hoity toity and persnickity about their grass they literally trimmed the edges on their knees with scissors!!! Neighborhood kids, including my own, were afraid to retrieve a stray ball from their yard.
Now I live in a wee house on a couple of acres, with a private school a few lots down. Kids will walk home from school & cut across my yard and I am thankful for it...thankful that these kids are not walking on the edge of the street (no sidewalks) where they could be easily hurt or abducted.
I hope to God I never become a miserable old person that values a lawn or a shrub more than children. Can you imagine...thinking on your deathbed...I was a complete jackass to children...but I kept a nice patch of grass??? |
Why is lawn and yard care so upsetting to others? Children should be taught to respect other people's property and their wishes.
You will be old one day. Treat older people the way you would like to be treated.
