 My lovebird died today
I feel so terribly sad. Chico, my lovebird, died today. This morning, while talking on the phone, I noticed Chico was at his food dish and got so happy, as he just hasn't been eating much lately. An hour later I got another phone call and while talking, I couldn't see him in his cage, so walked over to it and he was on the floor of his cage dead. We got Chico about 17 years ago for my son, but Chico fell for me and became my bird. He'd sit on my shoulder and nibble my earlobe, gave kisses and had such personality. I would clip his wings and take him outside in the nice weather. His favorite treat was french toast and he always thanked me whenever I fed him or gave him a treat. Not in English, but he talked to me and I knew he was saying thank you. I loved that little bird and am going to miss him so much. Here's a picture of Chico. It's from a few years back when he was younger. As he got older, he started getting different colored feathers in different area. Probably like when humans get gray hair. Chico lived a long life and I knew the day was coming, but it sure hit like a ton of bricks now that that day has come. |
