My Maltese Tuffy was trained to pee pads from the start and he still squats like a girl to potty. He never lifts his leg when he goes potty on the pad, but he'll lift it if he wants to mark somewhere.. usually on walks. It's weird because he never learned that behavior from another dog, he just did it one day when we were visiting my grandmother and I guess instinct took over when he smelled another dog there.
