It is virtually impossible to get the correct Yorkie in each point of the standard...so we work with what we have, barring serious faults. Correcting coat color is one of the easier faults to correct.
I would not count out a bitch due to a diluted color gene. Use a deep steel blue male from a line of steel blue.
Plus, females are known not to hold color..hormones are to blame and they can get very light, very fast..after breeding one can turn too light also.
go over your dog and decide the good and bad points..what faults you can live with and what you can not. I will accept a color fault over a structure fault..those are tough to breed out..bad bites can be hard to get rid of...jmo
