Being in the food business I run into self-centered idiots everyday, but I think I would have had to control myself from knocking that woman out. No you did not over-react, she over-stepped her bounds. No one in their right mind would pick up a strange dog, not knowing their personality without permission from the owner first. Heck I won't even pet another dog I see without the owner's permission.
