I have a 7 week old yorkie girl, whom I've had for a week now. I've not even posted that I have her in the nursery thread because all I read on here is negative comments about getting pups young...which I don't agree with when a well-bred, heathly, well-sized pup(s) is going to a competent home.
I think that you can be the most competent owner ever, but there are certain things that only a mother dog can give her puppies. They need to learn things from their own species...how to socialize, for example.

Also, the health of the puppy is always a concern. Hypoglycemia, of course. As someone who adopted an adult dog with Liver disease, I can tell you that if I ever did get a puppy, I would really want to wait until the dog was old enough to be bile acid tested. Having a sick animal you are attached to is so difficult. The emotional cost is greater than the cost of any vet bill.
