We free feed Rio and Bullet. Since they're on the smaller end of the size spectrum at 3 lbs, we want to be sure they can eat any time they want. Potty training wasnt' bad - just remember to take them out to potty after the usual times (after eating/drinking, after sleeping, after playing) and lots of times in between.
