I was going to name my first boy Winston for Winston Churchill and call him "Winnie," which means friend. My father looked at the picture of the pup and said he was no Winnie. He named him Max. I countered with Maximus because I love the Russell Crowe character in Gladiator. Then our Italian neighbor said Maximo and it stuck.
Teddy is named for Teddy Roosevelt because he has a real zest for life and likes to charge into things. He is also a great outdoorsman like TR.
