Bones don't calcify until about day 51. Before that time, there isn't enough ossification for the bones to show up clearly on an xray.

Do you have any idea what breed the sire might be if she is whelping? She's young, was this her first heat cycle?

If you have any concerns, then it's up to you to take her back to the vet for another examination and xray.
