We just put in hardwood floors in the last 2 days...I have the same problem. We use a metal x-pen which has been good, but I don't want it to scratch the floor. I have his pen set up in the den on the carpet for now. We only use the pen when we go out for a few hours. I just can't give him free reign of the house for his own protection. I'll be interested to see what ideas come up or what you come up with. Good luck.
