I just went through this with my beagle in april, she had what we thought was a fatty tumor on one of her back feet, turned out that it indeed was cancer. The vet was positive that he got it all and she has been fine since. It was a pretty scary though and we watch her like a hawk, any sign of illness off to the vets she goes.

I will keep Maxine in my thoughts and prayers as well as you and your wife.
