I have a box in my tree where I transition them to where they stay and learn to gather their own food and I monitor them. They do become aggressive especially if they are defending a food source. Ours bury their winter food, then return at a later date to gather it. It is possible that your squirrels have food buried in your yard and when your dogs unknowingly get close to that food the squirrels defend it. Here are a couple of pics just for fun. I certainly understand the delimmas when they become a pest. This little fella's name was affectionately "nutty" and he used to squeel when it was dinner time.

Aww that is so sweet! That baby is so cute! You are doing a WONDERFUL thing! Nutty is a cutie pie!

Now that food situation actually makes sense to me. I could see where that could happen. If they were protecting there food I can see where they would be very aggressive! Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us!!
