I have seen standard poodles with their fur dyed different colours before so there must be some pet friendly dyes out there. I think you should speak to your vet about this and ask him which dyes are safe for your pet. I also recommend you do a patch test once you do find a safe pet friendly dye just to make sure your dog dosnt have allergies, I have hair dye allergies myself and it is not nice to have a reaction and can be very dangerous.
You could also ask your vet about food colouring, this would change the colour of the fur and seen as it is fit for human consumption it may be a safe option for dying your dogs hair. But ask your vet first!
