Sleep Bassinet Advise

I recently purchase a used Arms Reach Mini Co-Sleeper Bassinet for the girls. Since my mil passed away at the end of Oct, the girls are very hesitant of sleeping in their kennels. Don't know why, but I carry them upstairs one at a time and put them in their kennels. They no longer will do it on their own. They are scared, but don't know why. I thought the bassinet would be better because they can see me and actually touch me, just like sleeping in the bed with me....but not. The first night they listened and watched my every move; no sleep. Now they have been in the bassinet for three days, I think, and are doing great. They can jump out and on the bed, but are doing good by staying in there until morning when we get up.

So what are my pros and cons? Is this a bad decision in the long run? Anybody else do this? Am I doing something wrong? Need advise/opinions.
