Poor puppy sounds like my guys... I free feed so they have kibble but they do go crazy when I am cooking. I often boil the chicken scraps (trimmings) cut up and feed as treats, or I may "drop" a carrot or two so I am sure it behavior learned.
But I have often thought she is a little too intense. I did have the vet check her before being spayed and everything was fine. I hope the same for you... it just maybe a stomach upset? Lets hope
