I used to feel this way. And I guess sometimes I still do. But I look at it like, well, I wonder if that dog was fed better food... if he would have lived to be 16?!? Ya know. I hear so many people say "Eh! My dog has been eating Kibble n Bits all her life and she's fine!" But I see a dog that's itching all the time, shedding like crazy, eye goop, ear infections, bad teeth/breath, overweight, the whole nine yards. It's just something alot of dog owners think is "normal dog stuff" and just because a vet ok'ed them, they are automatically "healthy dogs".

Some people can live to be 100 eating nothing but crap, smoking cigarettes, drinking liquor every day of their lives. Doesn't necessarily mean they were "healthy", just either had good genes or good luck, LOL. Just like a person can eat all organic, no sodas, no smoking, etc, and drop dead of a heart attack at 50. So I guess it's just what you feel comfortable with feeding your dog (as you said) and what works... but just because something is seemingly working, doesn't necessarily mean it actually is. So I'd rather be safe than sorry.

There's not enough evidence either way to really support either viewpoint. Except what I see with my own two eyes. I see dogs eating "crap" foods who poop a TON, their coats are just blahhh, they have that "dog smell", etc, etc. Compare it to the few dogs I know who eat healthy food and the difference is magnicifcant to me (someone who actually is a dork and pays attention to things like that-I'm a dogsitter, so around dogs alot lol)

Just my .02 cents.
