Lymphoma has one of the best prognosis, especially if it is the B-cell type. Lymphoma is actually curable in about 50% of the cases. Early detection and treatment is essential, so he needs to be seen by a specialist ASAP, and your vet can refer you to someone.
One of my IGs was diagnosed with lymphoma, the T-cell and with chemo, her life was extended two years. Plus, her quality of life was as good as it ever was, except for about the last month and one episode where the type of chemo wasn't good for her. Overall, while expensive, the greatest cost was at the beginning of treatment when she was getting chemo once a week. It was worth every penny!
Your boy will be in my thoughts, I hope things go well.
