I was thinking about this post.. and i wanted to add...
When I take Remy to our vet he smells her. Picks her up and kinda of hugs her and sniffs her fur- it looks like affection..saying oh what a sweet pup. I though it was sweet.. but now I wounder if her smell gives him clues to her health?
