I check the date and I also keep it in a storage container instead of just in the bag to keep it fresh. I always look at the date and make sure that the expiration date won't go out before they eat it all. It just keeps us from having to go to the feed store so often. I free feed my babies because they will only eat a couple bites here and there throughout the day. I just feel like they should have access to their food whenever they are hungry and we haven't had any problems with it. They don't overeat and they aren't overweight or anything like that. They really like the taste of the Chicken Lover's. Thanks for the recommendation though. If I notice any problems or if they start not eating it all before the expiration and I have to throw it out I will start getting the med. size bag.
