I raised Silkies for a time and I never met one that weighed 5 lbs. as an adult. They tend to be very sturdy and weigh in the 8-12 lb. range. I think Silkies can grow longer coats, but, again, I never had one that had a floor-length coat. Silkies do have long lives. My oldest Silky was 17 when she passed. I doubt your baby is a Silky, but may have some Silky genes.

Sophie's coat would grow past the floor but I tried to keep her in a puppy cut, it was easier to take care of, Sadie's coat also grows long but I am keeping it short too. Sadie only weighs 7 pounds and I do not think she is getting any bigger.
