I just want to comment that as a breeder I occasional will see a temperature spike after a momma has pups. I also monitor the temperature closely. I have learned to keep amoxicillin on hand and if a mommas temperature goes over 102.5 I immediately give the amoxicillin. In every case since I have started doing this the temperature will fall back to normal. The amoxicillin will also help if the momma starts getting a little mastitis.
One thing that concerns me is the vet put the momma on Clavamox and Rimadyl. What I have read is that they should not be given to nursing mommas. Hopefully the pups are being bottle fed since the mom is on medication. My vet always recommends amoxicillin since it does not effect nursing pups.
