What kind of dog is it? Look for rescues of that breed (or multiple breeds if necessary - some are size specific) in your area and STRONGLY urge your boss to contact them. Or ask her permission to contact them yourself. If the condition is treatable by medicine a rescue very well may be willing to take her if they have room. Please, please try to persuade her to do this!!
