There was a recent story in a newspaper here. An owl tried to carry off a Chihuahua... WHILE its owner was walking the poor baby! The little one was STILL ON THE LEASH when the owl tried to carry it off. The poor thing had terrible lacerations from the talons and the owner had trouble getting the dang bird to let go
So yes, you need to be aware and careful of birds of prey with the little ones!
