If your dog is going to spend time alone in the hotel room, take into consideration that even pet-friendly hotels will call you if the dog barks and may ask you to check out. Also, consider safety leaving the dog alone. Crate or put in an xpen in case hotel staff open the door to your room. You don't want your pup running out the door. Put tags on your pup. Have info on local ER vets in case of emergency. Check the room carefully for dangers like electrical cords or things left behind by other guests on the floor and under the beds, like an earring (choking hazard) or medication (toxic).
If you leave at home with a sitter, make sure it is someone you trust completely to understand your dog's needs.
