I have noticed on some puppies you can see them start to "break" as they say as early as 6 weeks. Some will be lighter than others. Of course seeing parents' coloring is a good clue but not a for sure thing because there are probably other colors in the genes. I have a parti-colored gold and white puppy that cam from two platinum and silver parents! You never know for sure, but a puppy who is going to be lighter will usually look lighter than it's siblings and vice versa, the darker puppy will be darker.
