Hi Christopher, Yes, Sophie would do the same thing before she was housebroken. I don't think it's all that unusual. Sophie won't do all her business in the same place outside either. She will squat anywhere outside but when she has to poop she goes to the back or sides of our yard behind a bush or tree for privacy.
