  I forgot what I had intended to say originally -- you mentioned that your dogs are past the parvo stage.  I learned recently that vaccinations don't ALWAYS protect against the disease forever, and that adult dogs can get it.  Also, an adult dog can be an asymptomatic carrier of the disease.  Before you consider bringing another dog into your home, I hope you will have your two adult dogs tested for the virus. You can also have titres run on your dogs to make sure they still have their immunity. You could be saving yourself a lot of heartache.  And as others have said, you need to do a thorough decontamination of your house and yard, and wait six months before adopting.  The virus really can live that long.  |
