I do understand your post...but I grew up in the UK..many years ago. Breeders learn from other breeders how to care for animals. Farmers are no different..why allow a vet to use a knife to slice off tails, stitch it and then do the same to the claw...when a breeder has thought of a better, less painful, bloodless way to do it.
I am sure it sounds awful..but it is a part of breeding. I have had young vets ask me to show them the clamp/twist method because they did not learn it in Med school...
Have you ever listen to a screaming puppy having a vet who cuts/stitches scream...I knew there was a better way, then I remember how my father docked Boxer tails with a clamp...by then I lived here in the US and asked other breeders to show me how...
I do not advocate any person taking on this without watching the video or having another breeders talk then through it...
My husband grew up on a farm...you would shutter at what the farmer has to learn to care for his/her animals...just a fact of life. |
