Welcome to YT and congrats on your new dog!

Give him time to get used to you and the new home. And definitely keep the nephew away from him unless you are supervising. If the kid lives in the same house, you need to be VERY firm about teaching him the appropriate way to play with a dog. It could be a good experience for both of them.

If he hasn't had anybody to play with since he was separated from his litter, he may need to learn how much fun it is. Maybe you could start with him and a toy in your lap... (we love the skinneez toys that are flat furry things with one or two squeakers and no stuffing), and get him interested in the toy. Then throw it just far enough from you that he has to get out of your lap to get it. When he brings it back to you give him lots of love and praise and let him keep it for a while. That might help him to learn that playing is a fun thing and has rewards.

Just thinking, too... are you taking him for regular walks? If he's not very active, you might need to get him moving more by walking him frequently. It will be better for his health (and yours, too).

Please keep us posted on how he's doing!
