Many vets suggest that. But, never if the dog or puppy is in baggage. So, I don't know haw mch your baby weighs, BUT 12 1/2 mgm of diphenhydramine seems like a lot. But, if that is correct, all you do is read the label on the liquid for the number of milligrams per milliliter of liquid and give enough to equal the amt the vet ordered.
For example ONLY....if there are 12 1/2 mgm in a peaspoon then tht is how much you would need to give. The dose as indicated by the Veterinary Drug Handbook page 283 states that 2-4 mgms per KG (2.2 lbs) by mouth as often as every 8 hours is recommended when used for motion sickness and vomiting. That would be the closest reason for using it in your case. So, if your puppy weighs, say 5 pounds, you would give 4-8 mgms.
Hope this helps..but, of course, your vet has the final say..
