Dinky was only 5 months when we got him, but he was so timid that I was worried. He was afraid of my husband, the driveway, even some toys.
We tried to expose him to any new experience we could. He worried his way through all of them, but bit by bit he has opened up.
It is very important not to croon to him and comfort him. He needs to know that you know when there is nothing to fear.
He will be one year on about 3 weeks, and he is still pretty mild mannered, a momma's boy ( but he loves Dad now too), and always doubtful when meeting new people.
So hang in there and expect it be go slow going.
Good luck!
