No, we didn't have insurance. We had been talking about it for months, but she never had any major problems before and this one hit us out of the blue! I swear someone up there was looking out for us because we had just decided to move to a new house and sell our condo, sort of on a whim, and the day Layla needed emergency spinal surgery was the same day the money from our condo sale was released to my bank account
We have thanked our lucky stars for that! We couldn't have afforded the surgery otherwise. To get insurance now would be quite costly because Layla has an existing condition. But now I have a little more knowledge on the disease and I know it can be treated conservatively as well, with medications and crate rest. That's how we treated her latest flare-up with a neck disc, and it worked wonderfully! Hopefully we will not have to go through another surgery.
I do not have a blog or website... basically everything is just recorded here on this thread! That's a good idea though, maybe one of these days I'll have some more time on my hands!
I am sure your hubby would be able to go through it with a dog as well. I never thought Scott would be so on board with what we've gone through (and sometimes, I've had to push him, but he always comes around).
Has Emma gone through treatments before? Surgery or medications for it?
