Poor dogs have to be sweating to death."

Yorkies are small breeds and I have heard that they just don't put out the body heat of a larger breed. I have also heard that one of the reasons doggie clothes, especially for toy breeds, is so popular is not only because they are cute, but also because they are necessary.

I would like some confirmation on the necessary part if there is any. I would also like to hear what other think in general on doggie clothes.

Thanks much!
My husband was the same way. he has always bred beagles and of course they are outside dogs. When I explained that yorkies only have a top layer of hair that is like humans and not the undercoat, he understood. we often talk now about how cold it sometimes gets during the night in our house (not freezing but a little cooler than daytime) and wonder if Ceeby is cold. I said, you know, I would hate to have to depend on just my hair to keep me warm. I always have a nightshirt or gown on and two blankets and Ceeby has nothing. he has a little sweater that he won't wear.
