OMG!!! I so needed to read this thread. After months of researching yorkies, I decided 6 months ago that I really want one. I have been referred to several breeders in my area and I have really witnessed some awful conditions. The first lady that I was put in contact with was very sweet over the phone and I thought that the puppy that she had would be perfect. Well I traveled about 200 miles to just go and take a look at her facility (atleast that is what I thought it was). When I got there it was more like a scene from a horror film. It was just awful. There were about 12 adult yorkies and Maltese dogs and about 15 puppies or so. There were urine spots and feces all over the floor and get this...This was all in the breeders living room! When she brought out the teeny tiny puppy I thought that he was about 2 weeks old but he was 3 months old and shivering as if he were freezing but this was over the summer! I was shocked because I'd heard so many good things about her but clearly she is just breeding for the money. Needless to say, I reported her to the humane society. But for weeks I wandered about that little puppy, he could fit right in the palm of my hand.
Now I am very happy to say that I have found a breeder a little closer to home who is absolutely wonderful. My Chloe is about 2.8lbs at 10 weeks and that is fantastic for me because I have a 6 year old daughter. We are going to pick her up this Saturday. I am soooo happy to have found yorkietalk it is so informative and I must say that lately this is my favorite past time
