I know you wouldn't, but I wanted to put that warning out there. Can't believe a breeder would do that, although I suppose others would argue that it isn't any worse than docking tails. However, the tails are docked in the first few days and it seems to me to be a much safer procedure.
ETA: I reread your post and see it was the owner, not the breeder who did it.
