Yelping for unknown reason and occasional sluggishness? My 3 year old male yorkie, Miyagi, has been acting a little odd the past few days. The vast majority of the time he seems perfectly normal. But every now and then he will yelp/scream as if in pain for no apparent reason. It always happens when someone is touching him. My boston terrier sat on him and he screamed. My hubby bumped him with his foot while sitting on the couch and he screamed. I have checked him over thoroughly without being able to pinpoint any sore areas. I've checked between his toes, massaged up and down his spine and neck, checked inside his mouth & ears, and gently pulled his legs in different directions to check his joints. He seems fine when I do this and quite enjoys the attention. He won't hesitate to chase after a toy.
He's also been sluggish, which occurs just about as randomly as the yelping (though they do not occur at the same time). When I say sluggish, I mean that he will walk slowly toward the front door when it's time to go potty (without limping or anything) instead of racing to the door like normal. But he perks up as soon as we're outside. There have been a couple other times when he paced around the floor in a sluggish way for a few minutes. Again, the vast majority of the time he is his perky, energetic self.
He has had bouts of sluggishness in the past, which disappear after a couple days. It's as if he's having an "off" day. But he never had the yelping/screaming before.
All else is normal: eating, drinking, pooping, peeing, no other symptoms, and no ongoing medical conditions that I am aware of. |
