I'm taking it to mean that someone may have changed her general password (possibly using the "I forgot my password" feature when you log in) and not that they changed the password to her profile. Though, even then, the password reset is sent to the email address that you signed up for the account with.
Hmmmm...could you have possibly just thought you had one password when it was really another? I do that all the time. In between the multiple forums and sites I'm on, I have over a dozen passwords to remember. My brain is cluttered with too much stuff.
