She will be limping for a while....anti-inflammatories, pain meds....I have been at work all day and have to work a 24 hour shift and I feel so bad because I want to hold my baby! Plus my husband never gets the info that my type A self does Do you guys think that the torn ACL was caused at the groomer's or is this common with luxating patellas?? It is just soooo weird because when she left she was FINE and when she came home she was NOT FINE. I feel like this was caused at the groomers but it could just be a coincidence.... I don't know. I just want my girl to be okay.
Hard to say, but my guess is the torn ligament must have occurred while she was at the groomer. I recently had a pup tear a ligament and she immediately went lame.
I strongly suggest you take her to a board certified surgeon and speak with him/her about this ligament tear. The surgeon I use said that they must be repaired surgically or the pup will develop severe arthritis. It is not a comfortable injury for them either. I am sorry to hear this. I would probably be pressing pretty hard on that groomer...if she is letting a child carry pups around, she is clearly not careful imho and/or knowledgable about how fragile yorkies are.
